A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the educational, civic, and leadership impact of the Leadership Training Program and commending its participants for their commitment to public service; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Leadership Training Program brought together students of various ages, including both college and high school participants, to gain firsthand experience in the legislative process at the Georgia State Capitol; and

WHEREAS, the program was designed and led by Melanie Jacobson, Chief of Staff to State Representatives Karen Lupton, Shea Roberts, and Marvin Lim, in partnership with the offices of these legislators to provide students with meaningful exposure to governance, public policy, and civic leadership; and

WHEREAS, the Leadership Training Program provided participants with firsthand experience in the legislative process, including how bills move through committees, hearings, and votes within the Georgia General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, participants engaged in hands-on activities such as attending committee meetings, conducting policy research, taking legislative notes, assisting with constituent services, and observing the daily work of state representatives; and

WHEREAS, participants developed practical skills including legislative analysis, communication with constituents, social media outreach, event planning, and professional collaboration in a fast-paced government environment; and

WHEREAS, the program encouraged participants to engage directly with primary government sources such as legislative texts, committee proceedings, and official materials, strengthening their ability to critically analyze policy and public information; and

WHEREAS, participants gained a deeper understanding of civic engagement, inclusive participation in democracy, and the responsibility of informed leadership within their communities; and

WHEREAS, the Leadership Training Program represents an important step for many participants as they begin their journeys into governance, public service, and community leadership; and

WHEREAS, the following students participated in the Leadership Training Program and demonstrated exceptional commitment to learning about public service and civic leadership: Alyssa Storey, Annie Hodlick, Lily Seidel, Misty Ly, Soluchi Ezanagu, Walker Rott, Siqi Bai, Jordan Lee-Barber, Charelle Garrell, Lia Lyles, Siri Muppidi, Aiden Yang, Sydney Martin, Lily Otting, Pranavi Saguturu, Lydia Park, Mina Cho, Arya Miller, and Ishanyi Pantapati.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the immense impact of the Leadership Training Program, commend its participants for their dedication to civic engagement and public service, and extend best wishes for success as they continue to apply the knowledge, skills, and perspectives gained through the program.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
