A RESOLUTION
Commending Marcus Arbery Sr., author of Where's Daddy: The Ahmaud Arbery Story; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Marcus Arbery Sr. has dedicated innumerable hours of his time and energy toward the national fight for justice, upholding the legacy of his son, Ahmaud Arbery, and encouraging communities across the United States to work toward unity; and
WHEREAS, in the six years since his son was murdered while jogging near Brunswick, Georgia, Marcus Arbery Sr. has become a prominent voice calling for accountability, racial justice, and community healing; and
WHEREAS, in his new book, Where's Daddy: The Ahmaud Arbery Story, he honors the life and memory of Ahmaud and speaks directly to hurting fathers and families, reminding us of the faith and sacrifice inherent to parenthood; and
WHEREAS, the book further demonstrates the love, strength, and responsibility that a father carries for his children as well as challenges the current perception of men and Black fathers; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Marcus Arbery Sr. be appropriately honored by this body.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Marcus Arbery Sr. upon the release of his book, Where's Daddy: The Ahmaud Arbery Story, and extend best wishes for future success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Marcus Arbery Sr.
