House Resolution 1871

A RESOLUTION

Commending the House interns for the 2026 regular session of the General Assembly of Georgia; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Georgia Legislative Internship Program is one of the nation's oldest educational internships to focus on the state legislative process; and

WHEREAS, the internship program is a cooperative venture between the General Assembly of Georgia and institutions of higher learning in Georgia, and it provides a select group of students with in-depth exposure to the House of Representatives and the Senate by assigning them positions with key standing committees and legislative leaders; and

WHEREAS, the students selected for the House Legislative Internship Program represent some of the best and the brightest college students in this state who share a genuine interest in the law making process and a potential commitment to public service; and

WHEREAS, participants in this outstanding program are students from Augusta University, the College of Coastal Georgia, Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Southern University, Georgia State University, Kennesaw State University, Oglethorpe University, the University of Georgia, and the University of West Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the unique experience of participating as a House intern has undoubtedly enriched the academic study these college students have completed; and

WHEREAS, the members of the standing committees and the legislative leaders who greatly benefit from the service of these interns salute each of these students on a job well done: Brianna Speizer, Sophia Avalos, Anna Carver, Elliott Adkins, Michelle Belenkiy, Stephen Blaise Maddox, Audrey Ferguson-Brown, Daniella Gazzara, Adelaida Jaramillo, Aubrey Poole, Virthiha Selvamuthukumaran, Jeanne Yoon, Tyler Bennett, Jorge Millan Merchan, Haru Sakurai, Giselle Vazquez, Brenda Washington, Owen Hawkins, Meredith Haydel, Shana Johns, Mary Collins, Lily Cone, Victor Avila, Lashawn Brown, Edy Lee, and Sierra Hallett.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the House interns for the 2026 regular session of the General Assembly of Georgia on their superb performance and extend the most sincere best wishes for success in their future pursuits.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to each of the interns named herein.
