A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Dr. Teresa T. Byrd; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Dr. Teresa T. Byrd, MD, FACOG, MSCI, has recently joined Wellstar Kennestone as director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program, where she works to provide innovations in resident and medical student education as well as conducts ongoing research on pre-invasive diseases of the cervix; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Byrd has published significant studies on the use of Raman spectroscopy in detecting cervical dysplasia and the potential of active hexose correlated compounds
(AHCC) to block the expression of human papillomavirus (HPV) in patients with abnormal Pap tests; and
WHEREAS, her clinical expertise has focused on minimally invasive gynecology and office gynecology, and her outstanding contributions have been recognized through numerous institutional and national teaching awards; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Byrd completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and later returned to Meharry Medical College as a faculty member, where she earned a master's degree in clinical investigation; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Byrd has made a lasting impact on the field of obstetrics and gynecology through her research, teaching, and leadership, ensuring the next generation of OB/GYNs receives high-quality education and training; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding contributions of this medical professional be appropriately honored.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Dr. Teresa T. Byrd for her many remarkable career accomplishments as well as extend sincere best wishes for future health, happiness, and success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr. Teresa T. Byrd.
