A RESOLUTION

Recognizing March 20, 2025, as Out The Trap Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Out The Trap Day is a transformative, community-driven initiative that empowers individuals seeking to overcome barriers and build a future of stability, opportunity, and personal growth; and

WHEREAS, this day serves as an urgent call to action to mobilize resources, expand educational opportunities, and establish unwavering support systems that promote economic empowerment, rehabilitation, and personal development; and

WHEREAS, Out The Trap Day embodies Georgia's steadfast commitment to harm reduction, criminal justice reform, economic development, and community-based solutions that uplift and protect the most vulnerable populations, including survivors of human and drug trafficking; and

WHEREAS, participation in Out The Trap Day fosters vital collaboration among local organizations, public officials, and community leaders to confront and dismantle the root causes of economic and social injustice, particularly those that enable human trafficking and exploitation; and

WHEREAS, the following individuals are to be honored during this year's Out The Trap Day for their steadfast commitment to uplifting individuals affected by systemic barriers: Anthony "Young Marley" Reed, Dr. Roz McCarthy, Big Bank, Big Gipp, Chris Brown, Corey Lowe, Donnetta Wells, Dr. April Hang, Dr. Rasean Hodge, Evan Hall, Judson Hill, Kyle Brown, Micheal "Coach" Harris, Mychel "Snoop" Dilliard, Robert "Roo" McClendon, Scotty Smart, Shaleea "Lucki" Johnson, Shar Bates, Sunday Jones, and Terry Woodard; and

WHEREAS, recognizing this day highlights the power of second chances, the necessity of rehabilitation, and the creation of tangible pathways to success for those striving to break free from cycles of harm, exploitation, and systemic oppression.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize March 20, 2025, as Out The Trap Day and encourage policymakers, community organizations, and the public to engage in and support initiatives that foster empowerment, justice, and systemic transformation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to each individual named herein, the public, and the press.
