A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Kenneth K. Mickens; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Kenneth K. Mickens; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth K. Mickens was born on April 3, 1955, in Havana, Florida, a beloved son of Arthur Mickens Sr. and Ella Mae Harrison-Mickens; and

WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mickens began a career at the Tallahassee FCI as a correctional officer and later followed his passion on becoming an entrepreneur, creating fashion shows, the Commonwealth Tax Services, X-Men Builder and Associates, and the Frankie and Johnny clothing store; and

WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Mickens was an active member of New Mt. Zion AME Church; and

WHEREAS, he was blessed with three remarkable children, Christopher, Brandon, and Patrice; with two wonderful grandchildren, Bryan and Braylen; and by his former wife, best friend, and mother of his children, Patricia Ann Lofton-Mickens; and

WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, he possessed the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved by overcoming the many challenges of life; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Kenneth K. Mickens will long be remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Kenneth K. Mickens and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Kenneth K. Mickens.
