A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Georgia Association of Senior Centers in honor of National Senior Center Month; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, September is recognized as National Senior Center Month, a time to celebrate the invaluable contributions of senior centers in enhancing the lives of older adults; and
WHEREAS, the Georgia Association of Senior Centers (GASC) was founded to bring senior center professionals together from across Georgia's rural, urban, and suburban communities to strengthen the operations, programming, and leadership of senior centers statewide; and
WHEREAS, GASC is committed to supporting senior center administrators, managers, programmers, and professionals in their mission to enhance the well-being and quality of life for Georgia's older adults by fostering collaboration, professional development, and advocacy; and
WHEREAS, GASC is establishing itself as a guiding force for senior centers by providing leadership, resources, and support to ensure that Georgia's senior centers remain vibrant and accessible hubs for health, wellness, education, and social engagement; and
WHEREAS, the founding board of GASC has demonstrated extraordinary vision, leadership, and dedication in forming the organization and laying the foundation for its continued success, with the founding board members including Tori Strawter-Tanks, President and Founder; Konswella Gilchrist, Vice President; Tammy Le, Secretary; Adrianne Jones, Treasurer; Katie Howard, Board Member; and Shawn Taylor, Board Member; and
WHEREAS, the members of this distinguished board bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to the advancement of Georgia's senior centers, ensuring they serve as beacons of excellence for older adults and their communities; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of GASC marks a significant milestone in Georgia's efforts to strengthen senior services, providing a statewide network that fosters innovation, best practices, and advocacy to support the aging population; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the outstanding contributions of GASC and its founding board be recognized and celebrated in honor of National Senior Center Month for their work in elevating the quality and sustainability of senior centers across Georgia.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Georgia Association of Senior Centers for its exemplary service, leadership, and commitment to enhancing the lives of older adults throughout the state and recognize the dedication of its founding board members in establishing this vital organization.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia Association of Senior Centers.
