A RESOLUTION
Commending The Good Samaritan Health Centers of Gwinnett; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, The Good Samaritan Health Centers of Gwinnett (Good Sam Gwinnett) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the uninsured and low-income residents of Gwinnett County through two charitable clinics, Good Sam East and Good Sam West, both located in Norcross; and
WHEREAS, since its founding in 2005, Good Sam Gwinnett has provided low-cost medical care, dental care, counseling services, and medication assistance across the lifespan of patients in need, serving more than 300,000 individuals over the past 20 years; and
WHEREAS, Good Sam Gwinnett operates with the mission of demonstrating Christ's love by ensuring that no individual in the community needlessly suffers from treatable health or dental conditions due to lack of access to care; and
WHEREAS, the organization strives to achieve its goals of providing quality, affordable healthcare and dental services to the uninsured, reducing the burden on emergency rooms for non-emergency services, and equipping future medical professionals to address the unique challenges faced by disadvantaged patient populations; and
WHEREAS, by fulfilling its mission, Good Sam Gwinnett helps to eliminate health disparities among the poor and uninsured, reduces the overall cost of indigent care in the healthcare system, and enhances awareness within the medical community of the needs of underserved populations; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of CEO Shameka Allen and with a staff of over 50 full- and part-time front line workers, The Good Samaritan Health Centers of Gwinnett remains committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive healthcare services to those who might otherwise go without.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend The Good Samaritan Health Centers of Gwinnett for its unwavering dedication to serving uninsured and low-income individuals and extend best wishes for continued success in its mission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to The Good Samaritan Health Centers of Gwinnett.
