A RESOLUTION

Honoring the lives and legacy of Kelly Nelon Clark, Jason Clark, and Amber Nelon Kistler of The Nelons and commending Autumn Nelon Streetman; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, The Nelons, a renowned Southern Gospel group originating from Georgia, have captivated audiences since their founding in 1977 by Rex Nelon as The Rex Nelon Singers, later becoming known simply as The Nelons; and

WHEREAS, over their decades-long career, The Nelons have released more than 35 albums, achieved more than 20 Top 5 Southern Gospel radio singles, and inspired countless listeners through their harmonious blend of Gospel, a capella, hymns, Americana, folk, and inspirational music; and

WHEREAS, their contributions to Gospel music were formally recognized upon their induction into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016, cementing their legacy as one of the genre's most influential groups; and

WHEREAS, on July 26, 2024, the Gospel music community suffered an immeasurable loss when three beloved members of The Nelons—Kelly Nelon Clark; her husband, Jason Clark; and their daughter, Amber Nelon Kistler—tragically lost their lives in a plane crash while traveling to perform on the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska; and

WHEREAS, Autumn Nelon Streetman, the surviving member of the family group, has demonstrated extraordinary resilience in the face of this profound loss, carrying forward her family's musical heritage with strength and dedication; and

WHEREAS, in August 2024, she released the album Loving You, which was completed shortly before the tragedy and was later nominated for Best Roots Gospel Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards; and

WHEREAS, Autumn Nelon Streetman remains committed to honoring her family's legacy and ensuring that The Nelons' message of faith, hope, and love continues to uplift audiences for generations to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body honor the lives and legacy of Kelly Nelon Clark, Jason Clark, and Amber Nelon Kistler of The Nelons; commend Autumn Nelon Streetman for her immense resilience and strength; and extend the deepest and most sincere condolences. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Autumn Nelon Streetman.
