A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending the Aligarh Alumni Association of Atlanta; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, established in 1984, the Aligarh Alumni Association of Atlanta (AAAA) is a dedicated nonprofit organization composed of graduates of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), India, and supporters of the Aligarh educational movement; and
WHEREAS, AAAA has played a crucial role in supporting education by providing assistance to students through various programs, such as the Sir Syed Global Scholars Award (SGSA), the Direct Early Intervention Center at AMU (DEIC), and the Indo-US APJ Abdul Kalam Center for STEM Education & Research of OSU-AMU, reflecting its commitment to academic and financial support for deserving students; and
WHEREAS, AAAA is also deeply involved in community engagement, contributing to the well-being of the greater Atlanta community through collaborative efforts, social issue dialogues, and promoting interfaith understanding; and
WHEREAS, since 2022, AAAA has hosted annual Eid Milan Picnics, becoming a cherished tradition in the Atlanta area, fostering cultural connection and providing an opportunity for thousands of community members to gather and celebrate Eid together in a festive, family-friendly environment; and
WHEREAS, AAAA has been instrumental in preserving and promoting the Urdu language and its art forms through the Jashn-e-Urdu Festival, which has featured renowned literary figures like poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar, showcasing poetic performances, literary discussions, and fostering a greater appreciation for the richness of Urdu culture; and
WHEREAS, the contributions of AAAA to education, community engagement, and cultural preservation have had a lasting and meaningful impact on the people of Georgia and beyond.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the Aligarh Alumni Association of Atlanta for its outstanding efforts in advancing education, supporting the community, and preserving cultural heritage.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Aligarh Alumni Association of Atlanta.
