A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Janice Reed; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, at the early age of 10 years old, Janice Reed began to produce and promote entertainment such as festivals, carnivals, and other community events in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, upon moving to Atlanta in 1975, Ms. Reed began producing entertainment events for the late Reverend Hosea L. Williams of Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless, a dedicated musical pursuit she continues to this day; and
WHEREAS, additionally, she provides family oriented, specialty acts such as magicians, clowns, face painters, stilt walkers, dance and mime teams as well as choirs, orchestras, comedians, and drum teams throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Reed is also the co-founder of the Sweet Auburn Festival, which began in 1982, and a dedicated community activist; and
WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished woman be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Janice Reed for her outstanding contributions to the musical, cultural, and social landscape f the State of Geogia. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Janice Reed.
