A RESOLUTION

Commending Hope Atlanta on 125 years of service to metro Atlanta; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Hope Atlanta was founded in 1900 as Travelers Aid Atlanta to assist vulnerable individuals arriving in the city and to provide essential guidance, shelter, and reunification services; and

WHEREAS, Travelers Aid Atlanta was renamed Hope Atlanta in 2009, and it has served hundreds of thousands of people since its founding; and

WHEREAS, throughout its 125-year history, Hope Atlanta has evolved to meet the needs of metro Atlanta's most vulnerable populations, including veterans, families, and individuals experiencing homelessness; and

WHEREAS, Hope Atlanta provided support to service members and their families during World War I and World War II; and

WHEREAS, Hope Atlanta has been a leader in disaster relief, offering critical aid to displaced individuals following significant events such as Hurricane Katrina, the 1996 Olympic Games, and the COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS, Hope Atlanta has expanded its impact by merging hunger relief with housing solutions, integrating mental health services, and championing long-term stability for those in crisis; and

WHEREAS, during Hope Atlanta's distinguished history, the organization has changed lives by assisting people in our community with finding permanent housing, reuniting families, and helping individuals avoid evictions; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable organization be appropriately honored during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Hope Atlanta's unwavering commitment to dignity, stability, and opportunity for all; celebrate its enduring mission to end homelessness in our community; and extend the most sincere congratulations upon the grand occasion of its 125th anniversary.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Hope Atlanta.
