A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Dixon Frederick Parker; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Dixon Frederick Parker on March 10, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Dixon Frederick Parker was born on November 15, 1967, a beloved son of Richard Parker and Mary Jewel Carlan Copeland; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Georgia Tech, he worked in the nuclear mechanical engineering field for over 30 years, earning a reputation for his exceptional intelligence and rare ability to solve even the most complex problems; and

WHEREAS, he had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting, and he was a avid gun collector and skilled handyman who was always willing to share his time and talents with others, often with a trademark dose of dry wit; and

WHEREAS, Dixon Frederick Parker was further known for his mastery behind the grill and in the kitchen, taking joy in preparing meals like steaks on the Green Egg or homemade biscuits and gravy for his loved ones; and

WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Marion, and was blessed with two remarkable daughters, Jessica and Elizabeth; and

WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Dixon Frederick Parker will long be remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Dixon Frederick Parker and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Dixon Frederick Parker.
