Senate Resolution 1021

A RESOLUTION

Honoring the life and memory of Jason Hughes; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Jason Hughes; and

WHEREAS, Jason Hughes was known as a devoted husband, dedicated father, and a passionate teacher, mentor, and coach who was loved and respected by the students and staff of North Hall High School, where he taught mathematics and coached golf; and

WHEREAS, he was united in love and marriage to his wife, Laura, and was blessed with two exceptional sons; and

WHEREAS, Jason Hughes gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep Christian faith, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, in a message to the community, the Hughes family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support and asked that continued prayers be offered for their family and for the students involved in the accident and their families, while also encouraging all to extend grace and mercy to them as Christ has done for us; and

WHEREAS, colleagues, students, and friends remember Jason Hughes for his warm personality, genuine kindness, and welcoming spirit, noting that whenever someone needed help he was always willing to talk, always wearing a friendly smile and making others feel valued and encouraged; and

WHEREAS, Jason Hughes will long be remembered for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Jason Hughes and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of Jason Hughes.
