A RESOLUTION

Celebrating the achievements and capabilities of young Georgians and recognizing March 18, 2025, as Georgia Children & Youth Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, more than 2.5 million Georgians are under 18 years of age, and today's youth are tomorrow's leaders; and

WHEREAS, the high school graduation rate has risen in recent years, from 67.4 percent in 2011 to 79.2 percent in 2016; and

WHEREAS, children are Georgia's most valuable asset, and Georgia's youth possess enormous potential, which must be recognized and realized through constructive social policies; and

WHEREAS, giving Georgia's youth the tools they need to succeed pays enormous dividends; and

WHEREAS, the circumstances of a child's upbringing have a profound impact that reaches well into adulthood; therefore, contributions are required from all of society; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia State Legislature is in the unique position to offer its appreciation and support of the children and youth of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body celebrate the achievements and potential of the more than 2.5 million children and youth in Georgia and, in doing so, recognize March 18, 2025, as Georgia Children & Youth Day at the state capitol as well as encourage all citizens to recognize and celebrate the achievements and potential of Georgia's youngest residents.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
