Senate Resolution 1085

A RESOLUTION

Congratulating Robert "Bob" Willis; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" Willis was born in 1926 in Louisville, Kentucky, and this year he enjoys the delightful distinction of celebrating his 100th birthday; and

WHEREAS, in his early adulthood, Robert "Bob" Willis served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Navy, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow Americans during World War II; and

WHEREAS, he was initiated into the Beta Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. at Kentucky State University in 1949, and as a college senior, he served as Assistant Regional Vice President for the Midwestern Region and later as District Director of Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, while working as a federal investigator for the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Atlanta, he served two terms as President of Eta Lambda Chapter, eight years as District Director of Georgia, and then four years as Southern Regional Vice President; and

WHEREAS, his exemplary fraternal service has earned him numerous accolades, including the Elmer C. Collins Award, the Regional Administrators Leadership Award, and the Award of Merit, Alpha Phi Alpha's highest honor; and

WHEREAS, Robert "Bob" Willis has reactivated more brothers and ushered in more Life Members than anyone in Alpha Phi Alpha history, has maintained perfect attendance at Regional Conventions, and has missed only two District and six General Conventions since 1949; and

WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding he has demonstrated have provided the foundation of success from which his family members have developed and flourished, as evidenced by his two wonderful children, Georgia State Representative Inga S. Willis and Attorney Robert A. Willis Jr.; and

WHEREAS, by the example Robert "Bob" Willis has made of his life, he makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that he be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body congratulate Robert "Bob" Willis on the remarkable occasion of his 100th birthday and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Robert "Bob" Willis.
