WHEREAS, President Donald J. Trump was inaugurated January 20, 2025, following the 2024 Presidential Election, winning the electoral and popular vote, as the 47th President of the United States, the second candidate in American history to be elected to the office in two non-consecutive terms, gaining the confidence of millions of American voters; and

WHEREAS, within hours of taking the oath of office, President Trump began delivering on his promises to the American people with a series of memorandums and executive orders, including but not limited to enhancing border security and targeting dangerous cartels as terrorist organizations, mandating that United States foreign policy be aligned with core American interests, addressing the increased cost-of-living, and ending the weaponization of the federal government towards United States citizens; and
WHEREAS, in his first term as President, he led the United States into energy independence for the first time in decades with initiatives like opening federal lands to oil and gas exploration, approving the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, and ending undue reliance on foreign energy sources; and
WHEREAS, President Trump appointed over 200 federal judges, including 54 federal appellate judges and three Supreme Court justices—Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett—whose decisions will shape the legal landscape for generations; today, more than a quarter of active federal court judges are Trump appointees; and
WHEREAS, he adopted a "peace through strength" approach to foreign policy to restore international American leadership, hold our adversaries accountable at the United Nations, and bring peace to the Middle East through the Abraham Accords; and
WHEREAS, the President has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to restoring American sovereignty and ending the abuse of our immigration system through the implementation of the "Remain in Mexico" policy, the construction over 450 miles of new border wall, and cracking down on illegal sanctuary cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the 45th and 47th President of the United States Donald J. Trump for his re-election and successful conservative policies and extend their best wishes for his continued leadership.
