A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Camille Russell Love; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Camille Russell Love has diligently served as the executive director of the City of Atlanta Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs since 1998, guiding the cultural and artistic vision of the Chastain Arts Center and Gallery, the City's Public Art Program, Gallery 72, Elevate, Contracts for Arts Services, the Cultural Experience Project, and the Atlanta Jazz Festival; and

WHEREAS, under her leadership, the Atlanta Jazz Festival has remained one of the nation's preeminent free jazz festivals, providing world-class cultural programming and enriching the artistic landscape of Atlanta; and

WHEREAS, she has further served on the boards of the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund, APEX Museum, Piedmont Park Conservancy, and the National Black Arts Festival as well as contributed to the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation National Selection Committee and the 1996 Cultural Olympiad Committee; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career, she has received accolades from numerous local, national, and international entities for her contributions to arts and culture, including the Inspired Cultural Excellence Award from Omega Media in 2002, the Community Impact Award from Living the Dream in 2007, and the distinction of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French Minister of Culture and Communication in 2017; and

WHEREAS, Camille Russell Love has served with honor and distinction, and her vision and unyielding commitment to the arts will be sorely missed upon the occasion of her retirement; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Camille Russell Love for her decades of leadership in the arts, congratulate her on the occasion of her retirement, and extend best wishes for continued success and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Camille Russell Love.
