A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Andrea L. Boone; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, a native of Atlanta and the daughter of two distinguished public servants, the late civil rights leader Rev. Joseph E. Boone and longtime Atlanta Public Schools educator Alethea W. Boone, Andrea L. Boone is currently serving her second term as a member of the Atlanta City Council, where she proudly represents the citizens of District 10; and

WHEREAS, she has previously served the citizens of Atlanta through her work in the office of former Atlanta City Councilmember C.T. Martin, where she held the role of Chief of Staff and advanced initiatives supporting affordable housing, public safety, and youth empowerment throughout District 10; and

WHEREAS, she further served for over seven years as the City of Atlanta Commissioner in the Mayor's Office of Constituent Services, collaborating with churches, senior centers, neighborhoods, businesses, and community stakeholders to ensure city leaders remained attentive to the needs of District 10; and

WHEREAS, she has consistently advocated for collaboration between the Atlanta Public School System, the City Council, and the Mayor's Office to prioritize the needs of local neighborhoods and communities; and

WHEREAS, her leadership has supported key citywide goals, including assisting in the successful hiring of 2,000 officers for the Atlanta Police Department and ensuring the city's budget has been balanced each year without increasing taxes; and

WHEREAS, Andrea L. Boone's decades of service reflect a profound and unwavering dedication to the betterment of Atlanta, and her work continues to uplift and empower the residents of District 10; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Andrea L. Boone for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend the most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Andrea L. Boone.
