SR 7: State Highway System; dedicate certain portions

This resolution formally dedicates specific segments of Georgia's state highway system to the memory or honor of named individuals and families. Each of the 27 parts before the operative section tells the life story of the person being honored, from war veterans and physicians to civil rights leaders, business owners, and a Georgia Department of Transportation worker killed on the job. The final part of the resolution lists the actual dedications: naming a stretch of State Route 145 in Franklin County for Dr. Robert F. Sullivan, a bridge on State Route 133 in Worth County for Lary Jack Moree, an interchange in Chatham County for Rev. Dr. Hosea Williams and Rep. Juanita T. Williams, and two dozen other roads, bridges, intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts across the state. The resolution directs the Department of Transportation to erect and maintain signs marking each dedication and directs the Secretary of the Senate to send copies to the named families.

The practical effect is limited to new highway signage bearing the honorees' names at the specified locations; no laws, funding levels, or traffic rules change. For Georgians in the affected counties, it means visible public recognition of local figures, veterans, and public servants along roads they already use.

• Part XXVIII contains the operative dedications, naming specific state routes, bridges, intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts after each honoree listed in Parts I through XXVII.
