A RESOLUTION

Commending the Georgia Council on Aging and recognizing Wednesday, February 11, 2026, as Senior Day at the Capitol as part of Senior Week; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Aging (GCOA) is dedicated to serving elder Georgians by advocating on their behalf to enhance their quality of life; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Aging serves as a trusted voice for aging individuals and their families by educating, informing, and advising policymakers and the public on programs and policies that impact older adults throughout the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Aging serves as an advisory body to the Governor, the General Assembly, the Georgia Department of Human Services, and other state agencies, ensuring that aging-related issues remain a priority in state government; and

WHEREAS, through its advocacy efforts, the Georgia Council on Aging actively recommends legislation, presents testimony at public hearings, and trains advocates across the state to effectively engage in the policymaking process; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Aging provides leadership to the Coalition of Advocates for Georgia's Elderly (CO-AGE), fostering collaboration among organizations and individuals committed to strengthening the support system for Georgia's aging population; and

WHEREAS, the Georgia Council on Aging is hosting Senior Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, as part of Senior Week, providing an important opportunity for older Georgians and advocates to engage with state leaders and raise awareness of issues affecting seniors; and

WHEREAS, the contributions of the Georgia Council on Aging have had a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of Georgia's senior citizens and the policies that serve them.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Georgia Council on Aging for its continued advocacy and service to elder Georgians and recognize February 11, 2026, as Senior Day at the Capitol in the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia Council on Aging.
