A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Jason Colbert; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Jason Colbert is the state recipient of the Technical College System of Georgia's

(TCSG) 2025 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL), the first program of its kind in the nation established to recognize outstanding technical college students; and

WHEREAS, the GOAL program brings together Georgia's business, government, and industry leaders with the state's technical colleges to highlight the vital role technical education plays in Georgia's workforce development, economic prosperity and future; and

WHEREAS, for more than five decades, the GOAL program has exemplified a strong partnership among business, industry and higher education; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Colbert was selected from among 22 TCSG college GOAL winners who demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and leadership at their respective technical colleges; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Colbert, a nursing student from Southeastern Technical College, enrolled with a commitment to obtaining the high-quality education and training necessary to acquire the knowledge and skills required for success in his chosen profession; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Colbert will serve as an ambassador for technical education in Georgia, representing more than 149,000 TCSG students who benefit from technical education programs offered at 22 colleges throughout the state; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Colbert has brought honor to himself, his family, Southeastern Technical College, and the entire Technical College System of Georgia and stands as Georgia's outstanding technical college student for 2025.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend and congratulate Jason Colbert for his technical college achievements and his efforts to promote technical education in the State of Georgia. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Jason Colbert.
