A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the Georgia Academy of Audiology; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Georgia Academy of Audiology is an association composed of audiologists who live and practice in all areas of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, annually, many Georgians are impacted by hearing loss and balance disorders; and

WHEREAS, licensed audiologists work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals as well as on their own to provide evaluation and treatment options for hearing and balance disorders; and

WHEREAS, these audiologists hold doctorates from accredited universities with specialized training programs to help with the identification, assessment, and treatment of hearing loss and balance disorders; and

WHEREAS, Georgia audiologists dedicate countless hours to educating citizens about prevention efforts; and

WHEREAS, these professionals work in a variety of practice settings, including private practices, hospitals, clinics, physician offices, pre-K-12 schools, research institutions, and government and military institutions; and

WHEREAS, many of the members of the Georgia Academy of Audiology are also members of the American Academy of Audiology, which works closely with the Academy of Doctors of Audiology and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this organization and its members be appropriately recognized for their contributions in providing healthcare in our state, including their leadership on healthcare policy.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the Georgia Academy of Audiology for its years of efficient, effective, and dedicated public service to the citizens of this state and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia Academy of Audiology.
