A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Georgia Piedmont Technical College upon the opening of its Regional Transportation Training Center; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Georgia Piedmont Technical College, located in Lithonia, Georgia, serves more than 4,400 students annually and maintains a job placement rate exceeding 98 percent; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Piedmont Technical College has recently expanded its instructional capacity with the opening of its Regional Transportation Training Center, the largest transportation education facility of its kind on the East Coast; and

WHEREAS, the Regional Transportation Training Center provides hands-on training in Commercial Driver's License programs, logistics, fleet maintenance, electric lineworker education, and emerging transportation technologies; and

WHEREAS, the center is projected to serve approximately 800 students per semester, significantly expanding access to high-demand transportation, logistics, and infrastructure careers as well as greatly advancing economic development in DeKalb, Newton, and Rockdale counties; and

WHEREAS, the development of the Regional Transportation Training Center reflects a substantial public-private partnership supported by the State of Georgia, DeKalb County, the City of Stonecrest, Congress, and key industry partners such as Georgia Power, Amazon, and Radius Recycling; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Georgia Piedmont Technical College be appropriately honored for its contributions to the economic vitality and workforce development in this state.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Georgia Piedmont Technical College upon the opening of its Regional Transportation Training Center and extend best wishes for continued success in advancing workforce education across the State of Georgia. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Georgia Piedmont Technical College.
