The authority of all societies licensed may thereafter be renewed annually but in all cases to terminate on the succeeding June 30. However, a license so issued shall continue in full force and effect until the new license is issued or specifically refused. For each such license or renewal the society shall pay the Commissioner a fee as specified in Code Section 33-8-1. A duly certified copy or duplicate of such license shall be prima-facie evidence that the licensee is a fraternal benefit society within the meaning of this chapter.
History
Code 1981, § 33-15-102, enacted by Ga. L. 1993, p. 1744, § 1; Ga. L. 2019, p. 337, § 1-75/SB 132. The 2019 amendment, effective July 1, 2019, deleted the former first sentence, which read: ‘‘Societies which are authorized on January 1, 1994, to transact business in this state and all societies licensed after such date but before June 30, 1994, may continue such business until June 30, 1994.’’, and deleted ‘‘such societies and’’ preceding ‘‘all societies licensed’’ near the beginning of the present first sentence.
