42-5-8. Notification upon escape of inmate.

  1. In addition to any all-points bulletin issued by the department notifying all local law enforcement agencies within the state of the escape of any inmate from the custody of the department, the department shall also, within 72 hours of the discovery of the escape, notify all parties who in the judgment of the commissioner have a legitimate need to know that the inmate has escaped and who have requested in writing that the department notify the party prior to the inmate’s release from custody.
