49-6-21. Duties and powers of council.

  1. The Council on Aging shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Governor, the General Assembly, the board, the department, and all other state agencies in matters relating to the elderly. In particular, the council shall:

  2. (1)

    Make recommendations concerning the establishment and maintenance of an adequate program for the elderly in Georgia;#

  3. (2)

    Recommend standards for services for the elderly;#

  4. (3)

    Aid the department and other state agencies in coordinating programs for the elderly;#

  5. (4)

    Establish indices to determine the effectiveness of programs for the aged;#

  6. (5)

    Ensure that regular, adequate, and accurate reports are submitted by the component parts of aging programs to the council;#

  7. (6)

    Publish in print or electronically regular reports of the council’s activities and the adequacy of state programs for the aged; and#

  8. (7)

    Establish liaison with area agency councils on aging.#
