A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

To amend an Act establishing compensation for the clerk of the Superior Court of Muscogee County, approved February 6, 1952 (Ga. L. 1952, p. 40), as amended, so as to change the provisions relating to the salary of the clerk of superior court and the chief deputy clerk; to provide an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.

An Act establishing compensation for the clerk of the Superior Court of Muscogee County, approved February 6, 1952 (Ga. L. 1952, p. 40), as amended, is amended by revising Section 1 as follows:

"SECTION 1.

The salary of the clerk of the Superior Court of Muscogee County shall be not less than 80 percent of the base salary for superior court judges in Muscogee County. Such salary shall be paid from the funds of Muscogee County."

SECTION 2.

Said Act is further amended by revising Section 1.1 as follows: "SECTION 1.1.

There is created the position of chief deputy clerk of the Superior Court of Muscogee County. The chief deputy clerk shall be appointed by the clerk and shall serve at his or her pleasure. The clerk shall fix the salary of the chief deputy clerk; provided, however, that such salary shall be not less than 65 percent of the base salary for superior court judges in Muscogee county. Such salary shall be paid from the funds of Muscogee County."

SECTION 3.

This Act shall become effective on the first day of the month following the month in which it is approved by the Governor or becomes law without such approval.

SECTION 4.

All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
