A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

To amend an Act creating and establishing the State Court of Tift County, approved March 30, 1971 (Ga. L. 1971, p. 2468), as amended, particularly by an Act approved May 5, 2006 (Ga. L. 2006, p. 4575), and an Act approved May 3, 2016 (Ga. L. 2016, p. 3999), so as to provide for the compensation of the judge of such court; to provide for the compensation of the solicitor-general of such court; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:

SECTION 1.

An Act creating and establishing the State Court of Tift County, approved March 30, 1971 (Ga. L. 1971, p. 2468), as amended, particularly by an Act approved May 5, 2006 (Ga. L. 2006, p. 4575), and an Act approved May 3, 2016 (Ga. L. 2016, p. 3999), is amended by striking the second unnumbered paragraph of Section 4 and inserting in lieu thereof the following:

"The judge of such court shall be prohibited during the term of his or her office from engaging in the practice of law. The judge shall be compensated by an annual salary fixed by the Board of Commissioners of Tift County in an amount not less than $100,000.00 nor more than 75 percent of the state annual salary paid to a judge of the superior court of the Tifton Judicial Circuit, and which salary shall be paid from the general fund of said county in 12 monthly installments."

SECTION 2.

Said Act is further amended by revising Section 8 as follows: "Section 8. The office of the solicitor-general shall be full time. The solicitor-general shall be compensated by an annual salary to be fixed by the Board of Commissioners of Tift County and to be not less than $90,000.00, and which salary shall be paid from the general fund of said county."

SECTION 3.

All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
