A RESOLUTION

Recognizing National School Counseling Week at the state capitol; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, National School Counseling Week focuses on increasing public attention on the unique contributions school counselors make by helping students achieve success in school and plan for the future; and

WHEREAS, this week highlights the enormous impact that school counselors make in helping students reach their goals; and

WHEREAS, school counselors are employed in public and private schools to help students reach their full potential and are actively committed to helping students explore their interests, abilities, strengths, and talents relating to development and career awareness; and

WHEREAS, school counselors help parents focus on ways to further the educational, personal, and social growth of their children and work with teachers and other educators to help students explore their potential and set realistic goals for themselves; and

WHEREAS, school counselors seek to identify and utilize community resources that can enhance and complement comprehensive school counseling programs to help students become productive members of society; and

WHEREAS, comprehensive school counseling programs are considered an integral part of the educational process, which enables all students to achieve success in school.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize National School Counseling Week at the state capitol. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the Georgia School Counselor Association.
