A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending the National Council of Negro Women Inc.—Georgia State Coalition; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the National Council of Negro Women Inc. (NCNW) was founded in 1935 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune to serve as a unified voice for African American women, their families, and communities, and it continues to advance equity, leadership, and opportunity across the nation; and

WHEREAS, the NCNW Georgia State Coalition represents a network of dedicated sections across the State of Georgia working to improve the quality of life for women, children, families, and communities through education, advocacy, and civic engagement; and

WHEREAS, the members of the NCNW Georgia State Coalition have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to public service by promoting voter education, health equity, economic empowerment, educational advancement, and social justice initiatives that strengthen communities throughout Georgia; and

WHEREAS, the Coalition's Day at the Capitol provides an important opportunity for members from across the state to engage with elected officials, learn about the legislative process, and advocate for policies that support the well-being and advancement of Georgia's diverse communities; and

WHEREAS, through initiatives such as civic education, legislative advocacy, and community partnerships, the NCNW Georgia State Coalition continues to empower citizens to participate in the democratic process and work collaboratively to build a stronger, more equitable Georgia; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to honor the invaluable contributions of the National Council of Negro Women and recognize its leadership in promoting civic responsibility, community engagement, and social progress throughout the State of Georgia.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend the National Council of Negro Women Inc.—Georgia State Coalition for its dedication to service and advocacy and extend best wishes for a successful NCNW Georgia Day at the Capitol.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the public and the press.
