A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Mrs. Arlecia Battle; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Arlecia Battle has rendered 23 years of dedicated and exemplary service to Clayton County Public Schools, most recently serving as executive assistant to Superintendent Anthony W. Smith; and

WHEREAS, throughout her distinguished career, Mrs. Battle has served with excellence in a variety of roles, including volunteer, secretary, administrative assistant, support specialist, and executive assistant; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Battle began her journey as a volunteer at North Clayton High School, where her commitment and professionalism were recognized by Principal Clarence Burnough, who encouraged her to pursue a career with the district; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Battle achieved a historic milestone as the first Black female to serve as an assistant to the superintendent, demonstrating both her leadership and her perseverance; and

WHEREAS, she played an integral role in supporting key district initiatives, including graduation ceremonies, and witnessed the continued growth and increasing diversity of Clayton County Public Schools; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her outstanding service and commitment to excellence, Mrs. Battle was named Employee of the Year in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Battle has demonstrated extraordinary resilience throughout her life and career, overcoming personal and professional challenges, including experiences of unfair treatment and a courageous battle with cancer, while maintaining unwavering professionalism and grace; and

WHEREAS, she has been a devoted wife to her husband, Ronald, for 46 years; a proud mother of two sons, who are graduates of Clayton County Public Schools; and a loving grandmother, a role she considers among her greatest blessings; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Battle has remained grounded in her faith and looks forward to continuing her service through her church and spending cherished time with her granddaughter in retirement; and

WHEREAS, her legacy is one of faithful service, quiet strength, historic achievement, and lasting impact on all who have had the privilege of working alongside her.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Mrs. Arlecia Battle for her 23 years of outstanding service to Clayton County Public Schools and extend sincere appreciation and best wishes for continued health, happiness, and fulfillment in her retirement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Mrs. Arlecia Battle.
