A RESOLUTION
Commending and congratulating Lilla Lee Purser; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Lilla Lee Purser was born on March 14, 1925, in Cochran, Georgia, and this year she enjoys the rare distinction of celebrating her 100th birthday; and
WHEREAS, she graduated from Cochran High School as a member of the Class of 1941, where she played on the girls basketball team, and she continued her education at Middle Georgia College, excelling in both basketball and tennis; and
WHEREAS, a devoted and active member of the First Baptist Church of Cochran, Lilla Lee Purser has dedicated many years to teaching Sunday school and serving her fellow congregants; and
WHEREAS, she was blessed with 72 years of loving marriage to the late Billy F. Purser, and together they have raised two wonderful children; and
WHEREAS, she has brought joy and warmth to those around her through her love of working in her yard, playing bridge, fishing, and cooking, and she now delights in playing bingo, her favorite pastime; and
WHEREAS, Lilla Lee Purser has witnessed a dramatic change in the world over the course of her lifetime and we salute her contribution to its progress through her tireless efforts on behalf of her community and extended family; and
WHEREAS, by the example Lilla Lee Purser has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately honored during this very special and memorable time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Lilla Lee Purser for her unselfish, dedicated, and loving service to the members of her family and community; congratulate her on the remarkable occasion of her 100th birthday; and extend their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Lilla Lee Purser.
