WHEREAS, The Sunshine House has provided high-quality early childhood education and care for 50 years, positively impacting the lives of more than 300,000 children since its founding in 1975; and

WHEREAS, The Sunshine House was founded by Dennis and Roseann Drew, who, as new parents in 1974, sought to create an early learning environment that met the highest standards of care and education for their daughter, leading to the establishment of Small World Preschool, which later became The Sunshine House; and

WHEREAS, what began as a single in-home preschool has grown into one of the largest early education and childcare providers in the nation, now operating 119 schools across six states with seven more planned for the future; and

WHEREAS, The Sunshine House nurtures and educates more than 12,000 children daily through the dedication of over 1,800 educators who provide a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for early learning; and

WHEREAS, the organization's commitment to growth and innovation has included significant milestones such as its expansion into North Carolina in 1995 and Georgia in the late 1990s, the launch of The Quest Zone Afterschool Program in 2000, and the establishment of the first Foundations Early Learning Center in 2016; and

WHEREAS, for half a century, The Sunshine House has upheld its mission of providing high-quality care and education to every child and family it serves, fostering a legacy of learning, development, and opportunity; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper to honor The Sunshine House for its 50 years of dedication to early childhood education and its lasting contributions to children, families, and communities in this state and beyond.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend The Sunshine House upon the grand occasion of its 50th anniversary and extend best wishes for continued success.
