By: Representatives Bell of the 75th, Neal of the 79th, Scott of the 76th, Douglas of the 78th, Burnough of the 77th, and others

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the AgriTech Solutions Program in Clayton County Public Schools; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the AgriTech Solutions Program in Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS)will play vital role in preparing the next generation of agriculturists to develop sustainable and profitable local food systems; and

WHEREAS, the Office of STEM and Innovation at CCPS is dedicated to promoting excellence in STEM education and fostering innovative learning environments; and

WHEREAS, the office has effectively supported the STEM certification process for schools within the district, resulting in 11 STEM Certified schools and the enhancement of STEM and Computer Science programs across more than 28 schools, including over 13 K-5 computer science labs; and

WHEREAS, the Office of STEM and Innovation has actively supported agricultural initiatives, including hydroponics, aeroponics, and traditional gardening, thus broadening student understanding and engagement in sustainable agricultural practices; and

WHEREAS, these agricultural programs not only provide practical skills but also introduce students to a range of career opportunities within the agricultural sector, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and innovation; and

WHEREAS, the office has been instrumental in forging and sustaining partnerships between schools, industry leaders, and institutions of higher education, thereby enriching the educational landscape with opportunities for practical application and career readiness; and

WHEREAS, Mundy's Mill High School students engage in the Agriteens Club using the Next Steps Youth Entrepreneurship Program's game-based curriculum called Community On-Demand; and

WHEREAS, through project-based initiatives, students develop hands-on agricultural skills, explore sustainable farming practices and gain the business acumen needed to pursue careers in agribusiness, agritech and agritourism; and

WHEREAS, through strong partnerships with industry and higher education, CCPS provides real-world learning experiences that promote career readiness leadership in sustainability and economic innovation; and

WHEREAS, Georgia Women in Agriculture Association has recognized CCPS' impact on STEM in Agriculture, thereby combining their invaluable support and continued collaboration to shape future leaders in the field.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the AgriTech Solutions Program in Clayton County Public Schools for the outstanding positive impact it has made on the students of Georgia. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Clayton County Public Schools.
