House Resolution 869

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Samantha Patton on winning the State Championship in the Girls 130LB Weight Class Division at the 2024 GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Championship; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Samantha Patton of Cook High School earned the top title in the state with her win in the Girls 130LB Weight Class Division at the 2024 GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Championship; and

WHEREAS, Samantha's performance at the state tournament and championship victory have earned her the title of first Lady Hornet to become a state champ in wrestling, and are a fitting end to an exceptional high school wrestling career; and

WHEREAS, this stellar young woman epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance; and

WHEREAS, her months of training and competition have been rewarded with an impressive win, and it is appropriate that she holds the title of champion; and

WHEREAS, Samantha's victory was the culmination of a season of hard work, dedication, and excellent sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, her superior skill, strategy, stamina, and control have earned her the respect and admiration of her teammates and challengers; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the superlative abilities of this accomplished and gifted student-athlete, as well as the pride, honor, and respect she has brought to herself, her school, and her community, be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Samantha Patton on winning the State Championship in the Girls 130LB Weight Class Division at the 2024 GHSA Traditional Wrestling State Championship and extend best wishes for success in the future. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Samantha Patton.
