A RESOLUTION

Commending Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields, a native of Savannah, Georgia, has distinguished herself as an educator, advocate, and leader dedicated to uplifting youth and strengthening her community through decades of public service; and

WHEREAS, she currently serves the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System as Director of Student Affairs, supporting more than 36,000 students through compassionate leadership and transformative programming; and

WHEREAS, she began her career with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System as the first social worker assigned to the Teen Age Parenthood Program, during which time she provided vital support to students navigating the challenges of early parenthood and served as President of the First District of School Social Workers of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, her next position was as Job Placement Specialist and Assistant Site Administrator at the Riley Learning Center, a school designated for students charged with or adjudicated of specific felony offenses; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Miller-Fields developed and coordinated several influential programs and initiatives during her tenure, including the Male Readiness Camp—a three-week summer program for third through fifth grade boys—as well as the district's first "Promoting Peace" Violence Prevention Conference and its annual "Character Counts" Conference; and

WHEREAS, her dedication to youth and education has earned her significant recognition, including the Gwendolyn Goodman "Champion for Children" Award, selection as a featured presenter at the National Youth At-Risk Conference, and honors for "Excellence in Education" by the 100 Black Men of Savannah Inc.; and

WHEREAS, her dedication extends beyond the classroom as she contributes to numerous civic and health organizations, including service on the Board of Directors for the Chatham County Health Department, the Department of Family and Children Services, and the Coastal Empire Disaster Relief Committee; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this remarkable individual be appropriately honored during this special time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields for her unwavering service to education, youth development, and her community as well as extend best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Dr. Quentina M. Miller-Fields.
