A RESOLUTION
Recognizing and commending Al Ciraldo Jr.; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Al Ciraldo Jr. has served as a spotter for the Georgia Institute of Technology’s (Georgia Tech) football broadcasts for more than five decades; and
WHEREAS, spotters perform a vital role in sports broadcasting by identifying players in real time; providing statistics, substitutions, and historical context during broadcasts; as well as using hand signals, binoculars, and quick identification skills to ensure broadcast accuracy; and
WHEREAS, at the age of 16, Al Ciraldo Jr. stepped into the role of spotter for his father, legendary Georgia Tech broadcaster Al Ciraldo Sr.; and
WHEREAS, since 1975, Al Ciraldo Jr. has contributed his exceptional precision, humility, and historical knowledge to the broadcasts of over 500 Georgia Tech football games; and
WHEREAS, representing a rare legacy of multi-generational service to Georgia Tech athletics, Al Ciraldo Jr. now broadcasts from the Bobby Dodd Stadium radio booth named for his father; and
WHEREAS, in addition to broadcasting, Al Ciraldo Jr. built a successful career in commercial real estate and is a dedicated husband and father of two sons; and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Al Ciraldo Jr. is recognized for his over 50 years of behind-the-scenes work that has been central to the enjoyment and accuracy of thousands of Georgia Tech fans.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend Al Ciraldo Jr. for his outstanding contributions to the Georgia Institute of Technology and sports broadcasting.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Al Ciraldo Jr.
