A RESOLUTION

Commending Special Agent Marvin O. “Dell” Spry, FBI, retired; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Special Agent Marvin O. Spry served as the lead investigator for the FBI in the case with uncovered, and lead to the conviction of, Aldrich Ames, a high-ranking CIA officer and spy for the Soviet Union; earning him the nickname “The Spy Catcher”; and

WHEREAS, Special Agent Spry served as a liaison to the CIA, specializing in counterintelligence and counterespionage, and received the FBI Director’s Award for Excellence and the CIA Director’s Meritorious Service Award for his work; and

WHEREAS, Special Agent Spry successfully completed and retired form his illustrious 20- year career with the FBI in 2006; and

WHEREAS, as a senior management consultant and instructor for A-T Solution and an instructor at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, he continues to train FBI personnel, consult on intelligence and national security matters, and secure our country against foreign threats and espionage.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend retired Supervisory Special Agent and counterintelligence expert of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Dell Spry for his illustrious, highly successful career and for leading the investigation to identify and capture Aldrich Ames, the most notorious traitor, and spy for the Soviet Union, in the history of the Central Intelligence Agency. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Special Agent Marvin O. “Dell” Spry, FBI, retired.
