A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival and Jason Orr upon its 31st anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival was founded in 1994, in Atlanta, Georgia, as a Music and Arts Festival, and this year it is celebrating its 31st anniversary; and

WHEREAS, the FunkJazz Kafé's mission is to serve as a revolutionary Music and Arts festival with a commitment to creating a space and uplifting music, film, and community, as well as preserving art and culture, and

WHEREAS, the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival has made a profound impact on the citizens of Georgia and countless individuals, providing a signature annual event that has expanded into a premier cultural celebration attracting thousands of attendees and featuring nationally acclaimed musicians, DJs, visual artists, designers, and cultural innovators; and

WHEREAS, the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival has played a vital role in the community, fostering an intergenerational dialogue for artists, shaping Atlanta's cultural identity, and cultivating and honoring Black culture; and

WHEREAS, each year thousands attend the Kafé Arts & Music Festival in Atlanta, serving to economically vitalize the community and support local artists, vendors, and other small businesses; and

WHEREAS, the continued success and longevity of the FunkJazz Kafé reflect extraordinary vision, leadership, resilience, and dedication in advancing the arts amid evolving cultural and economic landscapes.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and commend the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival and Jason Orr upon its 31st anniversary, and extend sincere best wishes for continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make appropriate copies of this resolution available for distribution to the FunkJazz Kafé Arts & Music Festival and Jason Orr.
